SECKUN PRIVACY POLICY
Updated: August 10, 2026 | Effective: August 10, 2026
GatoCam Technology Co., Limited (“GatoCam,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operator of the Seckun brand and Services, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, transfer, and protect personal information when you use the Seckun App, compatible cameras and connected devices, websites that link to this Policy, cloud storage, customer support, subscriptions, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
This Policy is intended for international use. Additional notices or rights may apply depending on your location. If a device, feature, or country is covered by a specific privacy notice, that notice controls for the subject it addresses.
1. Scope
1.1 Covered Services. This Policy applies to the Seckun App, compatible devices, websites, cloud services, support services, and other Seckun services that display or link to this Policy.
1.2 Third Parties. Third-party websites, app stores, smart-home platforms, voice assistants, payment services, analytics providers, or other services with their own privacy policies are governed by those policies for their independent processing.
2. Who Processes Your Information
2.1 Controller / Business. GatoCam Technology Co., Limited, at FLAT/RM D07 8/F, KAI TAK FTY BUILDING, NO.99 KING FUK STREET, SANPOKONG, HK, determines the purposes and means of processing for account registration, billing support, customer service, security, service operation, diagnostics, communications, and analytics that we choose to perform. For privacy questions, contact service@seckun.com.
2.2 Processor / Service Provider Role. When we or our technical service providers merely store, transmit, or analyze private Camera Content to provide a feature you choose, we process that content only to provide the requested Service and according to your settings. If you use the Services in a workplace, rental property, public area, commercial premises, or another non-household context, you may independently be a controller or business under applicable law and are responsible for your own legal basis, notices, consents, and privacy requests.
2.3 Technology and Subprocessors. We may engage technology providers for device connectivity, video transmission, cloud hosting and storage, push notifications, payments, customer support, security, analytics, and other infrastructure. We require providers to protect information and process it only for authorized purposes, subject to applicable law and contractual arrangements.
3. Information We Process
Category | Examples | Source |
Account and profile | Name or display name, email address, phone number, country/region, language, account ID, authentication or verification data, avatar, consent records. | You; sign-in or authentication providers. |
Device and setup | Camera serial number or UID, model, firmware, device name, activation/binding status, network status, Wi-Fi SSID/BSSID where technically required, signal strength, configuration data. Wi-Fi credentials, if entered, are used only as needed to complete setup and should not be retained longer than technically necessary. | You, your mobile device, and connected devices. |
Camera content | Live video/audio, cloud recordings, snapshots, downloaded/uploaded clips, two-way audio, event thumbnails, timestamps and labels. This content may incidentally show faces, voices, homes, visitors, children, or activity patterns. | Connected devices and your actions. |
Detection and AI data | Motion or sound events; person, pet, vehicle, package or other classifications supported by a device; zones, sensitivity settings, event metadata, and user corrections or feedback. | Device processing, edge/cloud services where enabled, and you. |
App, network and logs | IP address, App and operating-system version, mobile-device model, language, time zone, push token or notification identifier, crash/performance/diagnostic records, login events, security logs, and feature-interaction data. | Automatically from the App, devices, networks, and servers. |
Location and permissions | Approximate location inferred from IP; precise location only when a function and operating system require it and you permit it; Bluetooth, nearby devices, camera, microphone, local network, photos/storage, and notification permission status. | Operating system and your choices. |
Transactions and subscriptions | Plan, order, price, taxes, currency, payment status, renewal date, transaction or receipt ID, and limited billing contact information. We generally do not receive full payment-card credentials from app stores or payment processors. | You, Apple, Google, and payment providers. |
Sharing relationships | Invitee contact information or account ID, device role, access permissions, share links, and related activity. | You and invited users. |
Support and communications | Support messages, contact details, attachments, feedback, surveys, repair/logistics information, recordings where separately disclosed and lawful, and troubleshooting files you choose to submit. | You and support providers. |
Website and similar technologies | Cookie or local-storage identifiers, browser/device information, pages viewed, referral source, preferences, consent choices, and related website diagnostics. | Your browser and consent-management tools. |
Sensitive Content. Camera Content may reveal faces, voices, children, the inside of a home, routines, or other sensitive information. We do not intentionally infer highly sensitive characteristics such as health, race, religion, or similar traits from private Camera Content for advertising or unrelated profiling. Biometric identification features, if ever offered, would require separate legal assessment, notices, and controls appropriate to the relevant jurisdiction.
4. Why We Process Information
Purpose | Main Data | Typical Legal Basis (EEA/UK where applicable) | Retention Approach |
Create, verify and secure accounts | Account, device, network and security data | Performance of the user agreement; security and fraud-prevention interests; legal obligations where applicable | For the life of the account and a reasonable period needed for security, disputes, or legal obligations. |
Set up and manage devices; live view and two-way audio | Device/setup data, Camera Content, permissions, network data | Performance of the user agreement; consent for optional permissions where required | Live streams are generally processed only for the session unless recording or another storage feature is enabled. |
Recording, storage, playback, download and sharing | Camera Content, plan details, sharing relationships | Performance of the user agreement; processing at your direction for selected storage/sharing features | According to the applicable storage plan, local device settings, and your deletion choices. |
Alerts and detection/AI classification | Camera Content, event data, settings and corrections | Performance of the user agreement; consent where required for sensitive processing; legitimate interests where legally available | According to product settings, plan terms, and reasonable operational needs. |
Purchases and subscriptions | Transaction, account and device-coverage data | Performance of contract; tax/accounting obligations; fraud prevention | For the period required to manage the transaction and any mandatory financial-record retention. |
Customer support and troubleshooting | Account, device, logs, communications and content you submit | Performance of contract; support and quality interests; consent for optional access where required | For a reasonable support-record period; submitted media is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the support purpose unless law requires otherwise. |
Security, abuse prevention and enforcement | Account, IP, device and log data; limited content where necessary | Legitimate security interests; legal obligations; establishment or defense of legal claims | For a reasonable security period or longer if required for an incident, legal hold, or law. |
Performance improvement and analytics | Telemetry, diagnostics and feature interactions; private Camera Content only where specifically permitted | Legitimate interests after minimization and balancing; consent for non-essential SDKs/cookies where required | Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained longer where it no longer identifies you. |
Service and marketing communications | Contact details, plan/device information, preferences | Service messages: contract/legal obligations; marketing: consent or other lawful basis where available | Until you unsubscribe or the communication purpose ends, subject to suppression records needed to honor your choice. |
4.1 Required and Optional Information. If information is necessary to perform the Services or comply with law, refusing to provide it may prevent the relevant feature from working. Optional permissions and fields should be requested when needed and can generally be managed through the App or your device settings.
4.2 Private Camera Content and Human Review. We do not use private Camera Content for third-party behavioral advertising. Authorized personnel may access content you intentionally submit for customer support, troubleshooting, fraud/security investigation, or legal compliance when reasonably necessary and subject to access controls, confidentiality, and logging. Any broader model-training use would require a separate lawful basis, notice, and any consent required by law.
4.3 Automated Decisions. Ordinary motion detection or object classification is intended as a convenience and does not by itself make legal or similarly significant decisions about individuals.
5. Device Permissions
Permission | Purpose | When Requested |
Local Network / Nearby Devices / Bluetooth | Discover, pair, connect to, and configure compatible devices. | When you use pairing or nearby-device features. |
Location | Where required by the operating system to discover Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices; precise location is used only when technically necessary and permitted. | When setup or a location-dependent function requires it. |
Camera | Scan QR codes or capture materials you choose to send to support. | When you scan or take a photo. |
Microphone | Two-way audio, voice features, or other audio functions you actively enable. | When you enable an audio feature. |
Photos / Media / Storage | Save recordings or images and upload media you select. | When you save or choose media. |
Notifications | Device events, service messages, billing notices, and product messages you enable. | When you enable notifications. |
Permissions are controlled by your operating system. You can withdraw many permissions in system settings; doing so may disable features that rely on them.
6. How We Disclose Information
6.1 Service Providers and Processors. We may disclose the minimum information reasonably necessary to providers of hosting, content delivery, device connectivity, video transmission, cloud storage, AI inference where enabled, push notifications, authentication, payments, analytics, security, customer support, and communications. They are required to process information only for authorized purposes and to protect it appropriately.
6.2 Sharing at Your Direction. At your request, we may share device access, Camera Content, or device information with household members, invited users, recipients of share links, smart-home integrations, or other third parties you select. Review recipients and permissions before sharing.
6.3 Corporate Transactions. Information may be disclosed under confidentiality protections in connection with financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or insolvency, with notice or choices where required by law.
6.4 Legal and Safety Disclosures. We may preserve or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with valid legal process or law, establish or defend legal claims, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect users, rights, property, or systems. We seek to assess the validity and scope of requests and to notify users where legally permitted and appropriate.
6.5 Public or User-Shared Content. Content that you intentionally make public or share through a public or broadly accessible link may be viewed, copied, or redistributed by others. Copies made by recipients before access is revoked may remain outside our control.
7. Sale, Sharing and Targeted Advertising
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not use private Camera Content for cross-context behavioral advertising. If a future advertising or analytics arrangement is legally treated as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising in a jurisdiction that provides opt-out rights, we will provide the disclosures and controls required by applicable law before or when that processing occurs.
8. Retention and Deletion
Data | General Retention Rule | Deletion Trigger / Exception |
Live streams | Processed for the time needed to provide the live session unless recording or another feature is enabled. | Session ends, subject to limited technical/security logs. |
Cloud recordings and event media | According to the storage plan, device, region, and settings displayed in the App or purchase page. | User deletion, plan expiration, account deletion, or applicable storage expiration, subject to backup cycles and legal holds. |
Local recordings | Controlled by the user and device storage settings. | User deletion, overwrite, memory-card management, or device reset. |
Account information | For the life of the account and a limited period necessary for security, transactions, disputes, or law. | Account deletion or verified deletion request, subject to lawful exceptions. |
Device/setup and technical logs | For reasonable operational, troubleshooting, fraud-prevention, and security periods. | Rolling deletion unless required for a security incident, legal hold, or law. |
Billing/tax records | For the period required by applicable accounting, tax, and payment laws. | End of mandatory retention period. |
Customer-support records | For a reasonable support and quality period. | After the matter is resolved and the retention period expires, subject to legal hold. |
Consent and opt-out records | For as long as needed to prove and honor your privacy choices. | End of the applicable limitation period; suppression records may be retained to ensure your opt-out remains effective. |
Account and Data Deletion. If the App allows account creation, it is intended to provide a readily discoverable way to initiate account deletion from within the App. You may also contact Customer Support. Deletion removes or anonymizes associated personal information where reasonably possible, except for information we must or may lawfully retain for transactions, fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, disputes, or other legitimate legal purposes. Backup copies may remain until they are overwritten in the ordinary backup cycle.
9. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may operate in countries or regions different from where you live. Information may therefore be processed outside your country. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we use legally recognized mechanisms such as adequacy decisions, contractual clauses, transfer addenda, supplementary contractual or technical measures, or other lawful transfer mechanisms. The specific storage and processing locations for Camera Content and cloud recordings may depend on device architecture, service region, plan, and infrastructure provider and should be reflected in the applicable service configuration and notices.
10. Security Measures
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature and risk of the information, which may include encrypted transport, encryption at rest where appropriate, access controls, authentication, logging, vulnerability management, secure-development practices, incident response, and service-provider review. No system can guarantee absolute security. You should protect your account credentials and home network, keep devices and apps updated, and review sharing permissions regularly.
11. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
11.1 Product Controls. Depending on the feature and device, you may manage permissions, notifications, recording, detection settings, cloud plans, sharing relationships, integrations, marketing choices, downloads, and account deletion through the App and operating-system settings.
11.2 Privacy Requests. Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access or know about personal information, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising or certain profiling, limit certain sensitive-information uses, and appeal a denied request. To submit a request, contact service@seckun.com or use the in-app privacy or account controls where available.
11.3 Verification and Authorized Agents. We may take proportionate steps to verify the identity and authority of a requester, without requesting more information than reasonably necessary. Where local law permits an authorized agent to act for you, we may request proof of authorization and identity. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful extension or denial.
11.4 Complaints. EEA and UK users may lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in their place of residence, work, or the alleged infringement. Users elsewhere may contact their applicable privacy or consumer regulator. You may also contact us first so we can attempt to address your concern.
12. Regional Supplemental Information
12.1 EEA / United Kingdom / Switzerland. Where GDPR, UK GDPR, or comparable law applies, the processing purposes and legal bases are described in Section 4. You may object to direct marketing at any time and, where processing is based on legitimate interests, may object based on your particular situation. International-transfer safeguards are described in Section 9. Where a legally required EU or UK representative or data-protection officer is appointed for the relevant Service, updated contact information will be provided in the applicable regional notice.
12.2 California. During the preceding 12 months, depending on use of the Services, we may have collected identifiers and customer records, commercial information, internet or electronic activity, approximate or setup-related geolocation information, audio/visual information, inferences generated by supported detection functions, and information that may qualify as sensitive personal information under California law. Purposes, retention, and disclosure categories are described in Sections 4, 6, and 8. We do not sell personal information for money and do not use private Camera Content for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out where applicable, limit certain sensitive-information uses, and be free from unlawful discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
12.3 Other U.S. States. Where state privacy laws apply, residents may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal data, opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling, and appeal certain privacy-request decisions. We will honor such rights to the extent required by applicable law.
12.4 Canada, Australia and Other Markets. Local privacy, consumer, and cross-border transfer requirements may provide additional rights or impose additional notice obligations. Where a country-specific supplement is required, we may provide it with the relevant regional Service or website.
13. Children and Minors
The Services are not directed to children under 13 in the United States or below the applicable minimum digital-consent age in other jurisdictions, and we do not knowingly provide child-specific accounts without the consent or safeguards required by law. Camera Content may incidentally include children because a user places a camera in a home or other environment; the account holder remains responsible for lawful installation, notice, consent, and use. If you believe a child has directly provided personal information to us without appropriate authorization, contact service@seckun.com.
14. Cookies, SDKs and Similar Technologies
Our websites and App may use local storage, cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, security, diagnostics, analytics, notifications, payments, connectivity, and customer support. Where law requires consent, non-essential technologies will be used only after the required choice is provided. Third-party SDKs and service providers must be reflected in our applicable disclosures and app-store privacy submissions. Mobile advertising identifiers, push tokens, device identifiers, and camera identifiers are distinct data types and should be disclosed according to their actual use.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our Services, technology, operations, or law. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice for material changes where required. We will not materially expand the use of previously collected personal information without an appropriate legal basis, notice, or choice where applicable law requires one.
